Georgene Glasscock - Director
Ms. Georgene has been serving as the center's director since 2013. She holds a B.S.Ed. in Communication Disorders from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from the University of Virginia. She has 30+ years experience in the public schools as a speech/language pathologist. She enjoys traveling, singing and directing theater shows in her spare time.
Sherry Ferguson - PSI Lead Teacher
Ms. Sherry recently rejoined our staff and will be our Lead teacher with the two-year-olds. She comes to us from Appomattox with a B.S. degree in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Liberty University and multiple years experience in children's ministry. In her spare time, she enjoys redecorating her home and enjoys hanging with her husband and her dog.
Mary Lou Jenkins - PSII Lead Teacher
Ms. Mary Lou joined our staff as an assistant teacher in August of 2019. She has worked as a childcare provider for military families for the last eight years. She is currently working to pursue a degree in school counseling through online classes. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and photography.
Magan McGann - PK Lead Teacher
Ms. Magan, who joined our staff in August of 2019, has been working with children many years from home care, to after school care to working with public partnerships by being a personal care aide for special needs children. She graduated from Appomattox County and Miller Motte Technical College with a certificate in Massage Therapy. In her spare time, she loves camping, spending time with her family and and being a dog mom to her lab, River Grace.
Yvonne Boxley - Assistant Teacher
Ms. Yvonne, who is from Clarksville, joined our staff in the fall of 2016 from the YMCA's Before and After School program. She holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Specialties from Piedmont Tech and has 30+ years experience working w/ children! In her free time, she enjoys her volunteer work with veterans, traveling and Facebook! She loves children and working at the center.
Hikiera Franklin - Assistant Teacher
Ms. Hikiera is from Chase City and has been an Assistant Teacher at the center for four years. She recently graduated from Virginia State University, with an Associate degree in Arts & Sciences and a B.S. in Criminal Justice. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing, traveling and doing missionary/youth work.
Peggy Whitfield - Assistant Teacher
Ms. Peggy has recently joined our staff as an Assistant Teacher. She is retired from retail sales after 21 years. She is head of the nursery at her home church and is excited to be working with our children. She enjoys doing puzzles, going to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.
Amy Kurzawa - Assistant Teacher
Ms. Amy joined our staff as an Assistant Teacher. She moved here from New Jersey nine years ago. She recently graduated from SVCC with an Associate degree in General Education and is currently continuing to study education at Longwood University as she wants to teach kindergarten. In her free time, she likes to go the beach or hang out with family and friends. She loves animals and crafts.
Linda Sammons - Substitute Teacher
Ms. Linda previously served as the Lead Teacher with the two-year-old class but has decided to retire from full-time teaching. We're thrilled that she will be a substitute teacher for us! Originally from New York, she has 30+ years experience as a Kindergarten and Preschool teacher. She enjoys traveling in her spare time.
